Your kidney doctors

At Bluemont Nephrology, we offer specialized treatments for kidney health to provide a better quality of life for our patients.

We offer treatment in diabetic kidney disease, high blood pressure, proteinuria, hematuria, kidney complications from various conditions, kidney stones, kidney and bladder infections, kidney cancer, kidney cysts, hereditary diseases (such as polycystic kidney disease), urinary tract obstruction, acute renal failure, fluid and electrolyte disturbances and kidney diseases and high blood pressure related to pregnancy.

Specific treatment modalities that we offer include hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and kidney transplantation medicine. We perform kidney biopsies and 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

Our doctors

With fellowship and residency in internal medicine and nephrology, our doctors bring to bear the experience, training, education and specialization to provide optimal care for a wide variety of kidney issues. Two nurse practitioners support our nephrologists.

Dr. Nivedita Chander

Dr. Chander graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA. She then went on to medical school at Thomas Jefferson University. She completed her internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Ctr. in Chicago, IL. She is Board Certified in Nephrology. She holds privileges at Fauquier Hospital, Culpeper Regional Hospital, and Haymarket and Prince William Hospitals. She also holds dialysis privileges at the Warrenton and Culpeper dialysis facilities, as well as eight other facilities from Locust Grove to Haymarket and Prince William facilities.

Dr. Chander's areas of interest include preESRD education and management of patients with chronic kidney disease. Dr. Chander joined Bluemont Nephrology Associates in 2000.

Dr. Kenneth Kornetsky

Dr. Kornetsky performed his undergraduate work at Bowdoin College and attended the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He did his internship, residency and nephrology fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia. He has been practicing nephrology in Virginia since 1980. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology.

 

From 1980 through the present he has been the medical director for the Warrenton Dialysis facility, (Fresenius). From 1988 through the present he has been the medical director for the Culpeper Dialysis facility, (DaVita). He holds privileges at Fauquier Hospital, Culpeper Regional Hospital and Prince William Hospital. He also holds dialysis privileges at the Warrenton and Culpeper dialysis facilities, as well as Haymarket DaVita and Prince William Fresenius.

 

His other professional activities include the Fauquier Hospital Ethics Committee and he has given seminars to the public, in association with Fauquier Hospital, on Advance Directives. He is the Vice President for Medical Missionaries and volunteers at St. Joseph's Clinic, Haiti. He is also president of the Piedmont Dialysis Patient Fund.  

Dr. Kousalya Arunagiri

Dr. Kousalya Arunagiri combines patient-centered focus with extensive practical expertise to guide patients through their journey toward long-term kidney health. After completing her Internal Medicine residency in Baltimore, Dr. Arunagiri trained in the Georgetown University Hospital Nephrology Fellowship program.  Since becoming ABIM Board Certified in Nephrology in 2012, Dr. Arunagiri has provided her patients throughout the DMV with exceptional care for their acute and chronic kidney issues. Dr. Arunagiri will work witih patients in our Warrenton office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Dr. Baher Basta

Dr. Basta graduated from the University of London, England. He then went on to medical school at the University of Alexandria, Egypt. He completed his internal medicine residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA and nephrology fellowship at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC. He is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology. Dr. Basta has extensive experience in glomerulonephritis and nephropathy. He joined Bluemont Nephrology Associates in 2022.
